Sites & Servers

This guide outlines the key digital services and platforms for online spaces and server access available to UBC faculty and researchers, with a focus on those supported by UBC.

Data Sensitivity: When using any digital platform, site hosting, or research computing tool, it’s important to ensure that your data is handled in a way that complies with UBC’s Information Security Standards. Before uploading or storing any sensitive or identifiable data, please review the university’s data classification, server maintenance, and handling guidelines found here.

Servers and Platforms

DiSA identified four categories of platform and server spaces available to researchers. If a platform catches your interest, you can read more about it by clicking the title link, or via the links in the sidebar menu. Each link will take you to a table that provide a high-level overview of the tools or platforms of the services, including what it is, what it’s best used for, and potential limitations or challenges.
